Zika virus Disease

Hello students!

What do you know about the Zika virus disease?

We all suffer from some sicknesses once in a while. They´re part of who we are and mainly the way we live.

Diseases can affect people´s life in many ways and they’ve been everywhere for centuries. Infecting buses, contaminating classrooms, polluting offices, churches, industries, homes.

How many times a day do you meet someone who´s complaining about being sick for a week, at least? Many, right? It can be a colleague/friend/stranger

We´re living in a sick world nowadays and things are just getting worse as time passes. Hospitals report a rise in the number of patients who arrive with all kinds of health problems.

At the moment we´re having an increase in the number of Zika virus disease. How can the world deal with that? And Brazil ? Information is the first step and paying attention on what really matters is the most important thing to do. Our family, our community, our planet need help and we have to fight against it as much as we can.

Do you know any person who had already got Zika? Are you taking care of yourself? Concerning the Zica virus, let´s see:

What we know ?

1-No vaccine exists to prevent Zika virus disease (Zika).

2-Prevent Zika by avoiding mosquito bites.

3-Mosquitoes that spread Zika virus bite mostly during the daytime.

4-Mosquitoes that spread Zika virus also spread dengue and chikungunya viruses.

5-Prevent sexual transmission of Zika by using condoms or not having sex.

Steps to prevent mosquito bites

1-Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants.

2-Stay in places with air conditioning or that use window and door screens to keep mosquitoes outside.

3-Sleep under a mosquito bed net if you are overseas or outside and are not able to protect yourself from mosquito bites.

4-Apply insect repellent .

5-Do not use insect repellent on babies younger than 2 months of age.

6-Dress your child in clothing that covers arms and legs, or

7-Do not apply insect repellent onto a child’s hands, eyes, mouth, and cut or irritated skin.

8-Sick with Chikungunya, Dengue, or Zika?  Protect yourself and others from mosquito bites during the first week of illness.

If you have Zika, protect others from getting sick:

1-During the first week of infection, Zika virus can be found in the blood and passed from an infected person to another mosquito through mosquito bites. An infected mosquito can then spread the virus to other people.

2-To help prevent others from getting sick, avoid mosquito bites during the first week of illness.

3-Zika virus can be spread by a man to his sex partners.

There´s a way to not spread zika all around. Keep it far from you and your family. Take good care of everyone you know and of course, don´t forget your home.

See you!
