CLM Students visit the American Consular Agency

Hello students!

Today we had a very motivational activity for students who are learning or already know English. Teacher Cláudia presented a project to the coordination about a visit to the American consular agency, in Fortaleza. She worked about it with semester 6. Then they prepared some questions and some information about the courses in CLM. They met Laura Lehto, who works as a consular agent in Fortaleza. It was a moment for sharing some ideas and  learning a bit more about the USA and the importance of a Consulate.

(A Consulate is the representation of the public administration of a country in a foreign town. First of all it is responsible for its own fellow- citizens, living or travelling in the host country. The most important duties of a consulate are: to establish and renew passports and other official documents.)

  

The students talked about CLM, how everything works here and asked questions involving culture, education, society and environment. It was really productive as the students were amazed by hearing and participating of the meeting. And they spoke in English,what brings to a conclusion that they had some oral practice doing the task in the target language.

This is not the first time our students visit the American consular agency. We already had a similar activity and also a representative visit from the Consulate here. 






We´d like to thank teacher Cláudia for having the idea of doing such valuable work taking her students to a different environment and out of the Portuguese zone. We also thank her students for being so open to participate in this project. It was worth it!
