Thanksgiving 'n' Black Friday

My name is Dario and today we are going to write about food and gifts.
Do you understand thanksgiving? Have you ever heard about it? Well, let us talk a bit about this special date. You will fall in love with this festivity. Enjoy the reading and spread the news!
Thanksgiving is a traditional holiday in the US. It is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November and it precedes Black Friday. It symbolizes union, fraternity and… TURKEY!!! Yep, this day is also known as the Turkey Day. Families all over the country get together to have a nice time and have dinner with the ones they love eating turkey. People do not work in Thanksgiving. They may travel coast to coast to be in touch with their relatives and parents. Many working places are closed for about four days including the Friday after Thanksgiving Day. It is called Black Friday (BF).
Black Friday is one of the busiest shopping days in the US. There are 2 popular theories about the origin of this expression. The first is that the wheels of the cars in heavy traffic after the Thursday of Thanksgiving left many black marks on the road surface, leading to the term BF.
The other theory is that the term BF comes from the old way of recording business accounts. Losses were recorded in red ink and Profits in black ink. Many shopping malls, stores and markets started making good profits between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Glossary

  1. Great text! Thanksgiving is really a very big holiday, among the three most important ones - along with Christmas and Independence Day. It's very important to them to be with their families and the ones they care about.

  2. Thanksgiving is tradition in USA, and Blak Friday too, but in Brazil the Black Friday is only a illusion. Because the products has similar price in all stores. The people in our contry don't know who is Black Friday in fact.
In my opinion, the most important is the celebration in family or with friends, with presents or not. Peoples is more important that objects.

  3. It’s nice the day of thanksgiving! Is party bit like with the celebration of Christmas. It is a date on which the family gathers to offer prayers and thanks God for the achievements and opportunity during the year. The turkey is the symbol of the cult accompanied by other good things. On that day many Americans travel because is black Friday. Iranídes Angelo.

  4. The Thanksgiving day doesn't have much significance in Brazil, but in other places like the United States, is very important. It is a time where families gather at the table and eat traditional foods, like the turkey.
I think the black friday in some cases, no more than a marketing ploy, where companies double the value of certain products and then place on the normal value, saying that a large discount was done.
But I went to the Black Friday of C & A and it was very good!

  5. Thanksgiving Day is usually one day when people use their free time to be with family, making large gatherings and family dinners for the next day to spend your money on Black Friday! The day is also known for starting the Christmas shopping season....but to me, the Black Friday is the main symbol of the capitalist system...can be summarized as a religious holiday, half capitalist when the masses ,disposed take the day to a true worship of consumptionBlack Friday is a success for purchases that are made not by necessity, but by the pressure of "cheap living"!

  6. Black Friday.

Independent of theoretical explanation for this moment in trade, a fact what for me is true, is that retailers take advantage of an idea, a festive time, to generate profits. If we lived in the US, perhaps we could even take advantage of this BF, but here in Brazil, only deception, as in any other time deals. What one sees are stores that practice high prices for a period to convince the consumer, so later, when the right time, "lower prices". Double the price of the half. After all, as I had read in a matter, in Brazil the prices are not practiced based on cost of production of the objects, but the maximum price that the Brazilian consumer "blind", want and can afford, of course most of the time is only "want to pay."

  8. I learned watching "Everybody hates Chris" that the pilgrims from USA killed the native american ( indians ) and created a holiday in their honor : the Thanksgiving. I don't know if this is true but if it is, it's a very tragic story !!!

  9. I think very important disclosure of North American cultures because if we study your language why not know their culture ?! Thanksgiving is an important day because it can bring people together and make them think about their families and their neighbors. It's a moment of unity and celebration.Black Friday is a holiday typical of capitalism where people can enjoy lower prices and buy more than normal!

    ;) Sorry for delay!
