Hello everyone, today is Sunday and I wish a
wonderful day, my name is Dario and I’m writing this post in order to remind
you all about one of the most celebrated holidays around the world, the Saint
Patrick’s Day.
It is originated in Ireland and during the
Irish famine it was brought to America where became quite famous. In New York
City for example, its cathedral was built in honor to St. Patrick. In Chicago, there
are loads of Irish-Americans too. They paint the Chicago River in green to
commemorate the holiday. Therefore, the greatest festivity is in Dublin,
Ireland.
Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland.
Everybody wears green and shamrocks on March 17 and throw parties on every
corner of the island. There are people from the whole world in Dublin this week
in order to have fun and pay homage to St. Patrick.
If you want to read more about this event and the history of Saint Patrick you'd better visit the following websites: /http://www.dublin.ie/ , http://www.stpatricksfestival.ie/ or http://www.ireland.com/

On 17 March is celebrated san Patrick's Day where people wear green. Green ribbons and shamrocks are used in the celebrations of St. Patrick's Day. They say that St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the "Holy Trinity" to Celtic pagans , the use of three-leaf shamrocks and other objects represent this day.

Hello everyone! I have learned a lot about Ireland and its customs. In the last class, our teacher Dario and other classmates told me about St. Patrick’s day. I learned that St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland, the shamrock symbolizes the Trinity and an elf can take you to a pot of gold in somewhere over the rainbow. On March 17th, people wears green and go out to the streets to a big party and people from the whole world go to Dublin in this day. It was a very interesting lesson. Thank you all!

I enjoy the post and the culture about Ireland. Great post teacher ! This holiday can be compared as the day of St. Joseph for example, the difference is that here people dont dress it with green clothes and in Ireland They dont use statues. What else mark this holiday are the leaves of clover and green clothes and that's what makes the holiday is so cute! I hope one day to go to Ireland to celebrate this special day 😂

ResponderExcluirSaint Patrick's feast day, as a kind of national day, was already being celebrated by the Irish in Europe in the ninth and tenth centuries. In later times, he became more and more widely known as the patron of Ireland. Saint Patrick's feast day was finally placed on the universal liturgical calendar in the Catholic Church due to the influence of Waterford-born Franciscan scholar Luke Wadding in the early 1600s. Saint Patrick's Day thus became a holy day of obligation for Roman Catholics in Ireland.
