Kiss me, I'm Irish

Hello everyone, today is Sunday and I wish a wonderful day, my name is Dario and I’m writing this post in order to remind you all about one of the most celebrated holidays around the world, the Saint Patrick’s Day.

It is originated in Ireland and during the Irish famine it was brought to America where became quite famous. In New York City for example, its cathedral was built in honor to St. Patrick. In Chicago, there are loads of Irish-Americans too. They paint the Chicago River in green to commemorate the holiday. Therefore, the greatest festivity is in Dublin, Ireland.

Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. Everybody wears green and shamrocks on March 17 and throw parties on every corner of the island. There are people from the whole world in Dublin this week in order to have fun and pay homage to St. Patrick.

If you want to read more about this event and the history of Saint Patrick you'd better visit the following websites: /http://www.dublin.ie/ , http://www.stpatricksfestival.ie/ or http://www.ireland.com/

Currently, St. Patrick's Day is celebrated by people of all backgrounds in the United States, Canada and Australia. Although North America is home to the largest productions, St. Patrick's day is also celebrated in other locations far from Ireland, including Japan, Singapore, Russia, Argentina and some cities of Brazil. Everywhere, people dance, sing and drink "green beer" in Irish Pubs, just having a good time and enjoying themselves!

  7. Joelson: Many countries celebrate the Saint Patrick’s Day, so must to be very cool see a big group of persons using green clothes and green accessories.

St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Celts, so, the use of clover three leaves is linked to celebrations.

I learned that St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland, the shamrock symbolizes the Trinity and an elf can take you to a pot of gold in somewhere over the rainbow. On March 17th, people wears green and go out to the streets to a big party and people from the whole world go to Dublin in this day. It was a very interesting lesson. Thank you all!

  16. I enjoy the post and the culture about Ireland. Great post teacher ! This holiday can be compared as the day of St. Joseph for example, the difference is that here people dont dress it with green clothes and in Ireland They dont use statues. What else mark this holiday are the leaves of clover and green clothes and that's what makes the holiday is so cute! I hope one day to go to Ireland to celebrate this special day 😂

  28. Very crazy this party. People commemorate Patron Ireland Saint Patrick, they use shamrock that means trinity and believe the leprechaun will go show up in forest...a party some confuse because there are a mix religiousness with mythology.
I think formely this day had a means religious for people but nowadays the attraction is more commercial, turned for turism.

  43. Saint Patrick's feast day, as a kind of national day, was already being celebrated by the Irish in Europe in the ninth and tenth centuries. In later times, he became more and more widely known as the patron of Ireland. Saint Patrick's feast day was finally placed on the universal liturgical calendar in the Catholic Church due to the influence of Waterford-born Franciscan scholar Luke Wadding in the early 1600s. Saint Patrick's Day thus became a holy day of obligation for Roman Catholics in Ireland.
