Study
abroad, is that really possible? Does it cost a lot? Do I have to speak English
fluently?
These and
other questions come up when students think about taking a high school year or go
to college in a foreign country. There are many factors that can influence in many
people´s decisions as money, time, weather, culture, food. Let´s take a look at
some advice about this topic.
Firstly,
you have to prepare the documents you need, as they are required to enter some
universities or schools. If you don´t have an English international certificate, for example: PET, Toefl or FCE, or even a Visa, maybe you can´t do what you would like.
Prepare everything as soon as possible and always ask help if it´s necessary. It´s
always creditworthy!
Secondly, you
might have to save money and learn how to organize it as you´ll use an amount of
money during your stay. Many students don´t believe they can do that, but
money is not the real problem. Don´t forget : a dream is made from our faith in
who we are and who we can be from what we do. What do you want to be in the
future? Are you ready to fight against pessimism? Do you want to make your
dreams come true? That´s not so easy, but everyone can make a difference. Never,
ever give up!
Other
students have no idea about how to work on that subject, so they look for online information and exchange services or
even go to an agency which can do almost everything for the student. There are
many agencies that deal with student exchange programs. If you have no idea
about where to start, this can be the first step to take.
Thirdly, you
must get all types of information about the place you want to live for a year
or so. Food, weather, life costs, and some other stuff might be very important
when taking some decisions. Some countries as Canada, the USA, and Ireland have
sometimes really hard wintry conditions, so it´s good to deal with those matters
before you go.
The business
world claims for well-prepared employees, so studying abroad can bring you a
bunch of opportunities. You can have a well-paid and respected job, have a high position in a company or simply be a happy person. Finally, you can enjoy travelling if you
like. Living in a foreign country can make you an expert in languages and/or
culture in a high degree. What are you waiting for?
At last but
not least, try to learn a new language or improve the one you speak. Don´t wait for surprises! Get away with your fears and open your
heart to new experiences. Don´t forget to have contact with natives or friends
from the country you decided to go, it can also help you a lot, concerning how
to spend a nice and unforgettable time abroad. We live just once, says an old
proverb.
Take care!
